Mum Money and I FAQ

Image
It is so amazing the amount of rest and fun we have been enjoying in this season in the past few weeks. God has really blessed us with good air and good natural ambiance to enjoy. Now i am not talking about #COVID19 but Mum Money and I. Mum Money and I has faced a lot of questioning since it's publication, such that I have had reason to deal with both the young and old over the idea behind the making of #MumMoneyandI. To a lot of people it sounds so funny and I had to explain in each scenario, one after the order and so I have put together four of those frequently asked questions which I think will guide you along this path. What were the challenges you faced with writing a book as this? My first challenge was asking myself what it takes to write a book that kids will want to read. You know what? This curiosity fed on my time that after I thought I have completed the book I had to sit back ask myself all over again a simple question; if you were 8-13 year old will you...

Post COVID19: Positioning well to deal with the new normal

Add caption Maximizing this present moment for a profitable post COVID19 experience is not another inspirational title carved out to make you smile or giggle at the screen but a call for you to maximize the moment while it last. A lot of young and maybe old people today seem to have remain bored and overwhelmed by the experiences of things around, following the adverse effect of the present global pandemic on life generally. This stems from the feelings of times spent at home, waiting for the next course of action coupled with the fact that everyday activities seem to be the same and going in the same order like that daily. The recent reality is that the effect of COVID19 calls for us all to reposition ourselves and our life for the new normal which has come to stay. Many of us would never have thought schools, churches, banks and in short life could be brought to a total standstill but unfortunately that is what we got as a result of our nations strive to curb its eff...

Finding the real me (v)

I was really pampered all through . Mum can be strict, but she is such a caring mother any child will crave to have. “ So young man, you’re now going to the university ehn ? “ Yes mum I just  can’t wait to be there ” “But I want you to give your heart to my words for they are all right for you ” “Ok mum. You have my ears, I replied ” “ You see,  university is not like a secondary school. I can tell you that  it is more like a bigger city of students where you meet several kids from different background. I mean cultural and family background. Listen Tony. Mum often calls me Tony when she is ready to sound a heavy warning. “ I don’t want you to keep the wrong company. Go to classes, learn, attend church programs on campus and return to your hostel. And if there be need for you to visit your uncle whose quarter is not far from your hostel, then do so on time and return to your place. Do you understand? “ Yes mum”. I gleefully said without reserva...

Throughout the week,  my heart was immersed  in the joy of being admitted. The whole of my countenance wore the cap of gladness everywhere I went , as a matter of fact,  it remained so obvious like the  luring  look of an icing coat on a cake. My friends noticed and asked me the same question mum asked me. Just as I have been waiting for them to ask, I unleash to them the good news unrefined and they were all taken  completely  aback, wondering why I happen to be getting almost all the essentials of life so early. I was the one that first knew perfectly the butterfly stroke in swimming, I first got a brand new bicycle, I drove a car perfectly before any of them, I first got admitted into the university amongst my peers   etc .   Of  course  all  these will naturally call for jealousy and envy of the highest order. Dele, one arch-rival of mine immediately became my acquaintance that same day, and later on  st...

“Tony, why are you doing all these you once said you don’t want to do again? Or am I daydreaming? She questioned and continued. At least, today is not your birthday and not that I told you to help me do all these. Oh no you even remembered to get our favorite groceries. That’s interesting ” . Mum was glad I shopped for her without telling me. Why are you not talking son? She asked with a tone of seriousness. Or have you won heavy money from your sports betting? Just as she rounded up her talk, I dipped my hand into my pocket and handed her my letter of admission, neatly wrapped. From the chair where she sat examining her jewelry, she stretched and took her second eyes, her glasses and read through the details on the letter headed admission letter. See: Finding the real me (iii)  ‘ Ehn , so my son will be going to the university anytime  soon? Oh, my good Lord, I thank you. She stood, and began dancing , swerving her waist to and fro the same way she’d done e...

My name is Anthony. The last child of five children. My father is a late General in the Nigerian army. He died after actively serving this nation for more than forty-five years as far as I can still remember. He died. Yes, but he died leaving some good inheritance for us. Several millions of naira for the whole family, and some sum of money for my educational upkeep all through my studies till I enroll as a masters student. He left two jeeps, two saloon cars and some properties within Lagos and two in our hometown. I lived most of my life in the mainland of Lagos. Attending one of the best institutions in the country was all I ever aspired all my days. And yes I got it on a platter made with gold when my mum told me about my paternal uncle being the present registrar of one of the best university in town. And just as luck will smile at me, my uncle ensured I passed my entry exam into school, major criteria for admission. My excitement stems from the fact that  I will be goi...
